I found this craft on http://www.lilyshop.com/glitter-dipped-mason-jars and decided to give it a try. Well, it went so well I had to share it with everyone! It looks so great holding flowers and I absolutely love it!
This adorable and super easy to make glitter candle brightens up any room!
All you need…
- Pillar candles
- Glitter tape
- Scissors or X-acto Knife
Before you start, make sure your candle is clean!
Because I am a perfectionist I marked the space between my stripes with a ruler and pencil, but yours can be off-set or totally random!
All you do is take the glitter tape and wrap around the candle as many times as you want!
*Tip: Make sure all of the “seams” are on the same side so that side of the candle can face a wall.
Easy as pie and the candle looks like it could be in a Kate Spade store! 😉
Using a jar I bought at the dollar store and an old candle votive, I spiced them up using acrylic paint, glitter, and mod podge!
What you’ll need:
- Mod podge
- Paint brush
- Paper plate
- Acrylic paint
Here is what I did..
Step 1: Using your choice of color, paint the jar with even brushstrokes. Then place upside down on a flat surface (hence paper plate) to allow any excess paint to drip out. Make sure that it is completely dry before you move on to the next step.
Step 2: Using a small paintbrush (I used a cheap one that came with a paint kit) apply a small amount of mod podge to the rim of the jar.
Step 3: Pour about a tablespoon worth of glitter onto a paper plate.
Step 4: Dunk the jar into the glitter making sure to cover all areas that have been mod-podged. Make sure to let the glitter dry for a while, I placed mine in the hot Arizona sun for about 15 minutes.
And all done!
